LG has teased their new “Velvet” design which will conform to the water drop notch design that most phones design of 2019 and 2020 have adopted. The new LG handset is an upper mid-ranged phone “Cinema FullView” dispaly at 6.8 inches with 5G and a set of new lenses.

The LG Velvet sports a single 16 megapixel Selfie camera and the back houses the below trio of cameras:

  • 48 MP, f/1.8, (standard), – with OIS
  • 8 MP, f/2.2, (ultrawide),
  • 5 MP, f/2.4, (macro)

The handset has 128GB storage and 8GB RAM, the VELVET is available in a range of four colours thus far and all seem to be looking pretty sleek and attractive. Aurora White, Aurora Green, Aurora Gray, Illusion Sunset are the names set to be officially released on May 7 2020.

The Velvet will be running on the Snapdragon 765 chipset and have a 4,300mAh battery. The South Korean brand will have the device available to its market on 15 May 2020 and global release is still be announced.

It will be interesting to see how the new design approach #LG is welcomed by the South African market. Our take on it is that, if the handset is pointed to the right price point, the mid-ranged market will find this new designed very appealing.
