The Xiaomi Mi5 will be launched in Africa after all, kicking it off with a launch in South Africa! So Hugo Barra was right after all about expanding their markets.
The Mi South Africa social media pages, both Facebook and Twitter have posted a short video clip counting down from 5 and using the hashtag #Mi5LaunchSA. The Chinese brand has officially announced the Mi5’s in South African retail price of R7999,00 on their website and has opened up pre-orders.
The Xioami Mi5 was announced at the MWC 2016 and rumoured in depth as well. With Xiaomi hosting an event announcing the company’s first global flagship device. The Xiaomi Mi5 is a beautifully designed but is also up to scratch with top-notch processors under the hood. The Mi5 Pro version (the more premium of the variants with extended storage and ram) would seem extremely appealing to any market at the low price (half of the Samsung Galaxy S7). 
Clearly stating on their Facebook page “MIA_Africa_SA” that the handset is now available for pre-order and mentioning the retail price, the company hopes to enter the flagship market in South Africa with a bang. With software specifications and premium hardware design language, who wouldn’t want a go at the Mi5.
